You may or not remember that in August, energy regulator Ofgem introduced a new cap on gas and electric prices.  All in all, this would mean that UK households would pay, on average, £84 less for their energy bills.

Good, right? Well, despite this, some households could actually see a hike in their energy prices over the autumn.

For example, green energy supplier Bulb will be increasing its energy prices for both their standard credit and prepay tariffs. Bulb customers on the Vari-Fair tariff will see their energy prices rise by £51 a year.

Bulb has said that the rise of its gas and electric prices is due to the rise of wholesale energy prices.

This may make you rethink your energy supplier. After all, switching energy suppliers can save you hundreds a year.

Use Quidco Compare to find cheaper gas, electric and dual fuel deals. Not only will you save money by switching, but you can also make up to £40 cashback when you take out a quote. You’re saving money, you’re making money. What’s not to like?

You may not think the savings are worth the hassle of switching suppliers, but it might actually be easier than you first thought.

Ofgem has recently released its ‘customer service highlights August 2020’. As boring as that sounds, it showed that customers were very satisfied with how easy it is to compare and switch suppliers. 83% said they were satisfied or very satisfied with the ease of switching. It goes to show, switching isn’t that hard after all.

Francisco Villagran, Quidco Compare's Product Owner, says, "Due to the potential autumn price hikes in gas and electricity, it’s now more important than ever to shop around. It's super simple, just enter your details in the Quidco Compare comparison tool, find the best deal for you and your new provider will take care of the rest without you having to worry about a thing. You won't even realise that you have switched — you’ll just see a drop in your bills and up to £40 cashback in your Quidco account. It’s that simple."
